Patient Care Volunteer needed for 6 to 12 months
Opportunity Description: Major Responsibilities • Understands and honors patient rights. • Initiates and maintains contact with assigned patient/family unit of care as outlined in the patient plan of care. • Assists patients with comfort measures and supportive services including reading to and writing for patients, sitting at bedside, especially during dying process as outlined in the patient plan of care. • Assists patients and families to cope with problems of terminal illness and death; helps them to express feelings and concerns as outlined in the patient plan of care. • Completes accurate, timely and objective logs (cumulative hours and visit logs) of patient/family contacts. Submits documentation to the Volunteer Coordinator as outlined by state regulations and Evercare Hospice Policy and Procedures. • Refers to the Clinical Services Director or designee any immediate needs, problems related to the patient or family • Refers to the Volunteer Coordinator any concerns or complaints. • Attends continuing education and in-services along with other activities to maintain and improve the volunteer knowledge and skills as outlined by state and federal regulations. • Maintains a professional volunteer relationship that is helping in nature with all patients, family members, caregivers and hospice staff and understands that all volunteer visits have a specific purpose as outlined in the patient’s plan of care. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Follows accepted practices of infection control to prevent the transmission of infections and communicable diseases

Administrative Volunteer needed for 6 to 12 months
Opportunity Description: Major Responsibilities • Willingness to work as member of a team. • Realistic goals for his/her involvement in the hospice program that are compatible with the goals and needs of hospice (ex: time frame of commitment). • Evidence of commitment to the hospice program. • Assists with clerical work, admission packets, mailings, filing, answering phones and other duties as assigned, etc. • Attends scheduled volunteer meetings and continuing education classes as required for this position. • Maintains volunteer hours tracking and submits monthly to Volunteer Coordinator. • Agrees to follow rules of confidentiality.
